Sinclairs give to the future of local health care through land gift

One of the beliefs that the Sinclair family has when it comes to their family–owned business is investing in the local communities where their businesses, Montgomery’s Furniture, are located. It is apparent through Clark and Connie Sinclair’s dedication to local organizations and financial gifts that this is more than just a belief, but an action that they whole-heartedly embrace. The couple obviously takes a large interest in finding ways to support the Madison community and its residents.

Knowing the importance of keeping rural towns on pace with their larger city counterparts, the Sinclairs saw a need in making sure that Madison would be able to have accessible health care for generations to come. Coming from a furniture business that has been in South Dakota for 130 years and five generations, one would say that their family strongly believes in leaving a legacy for the future. With that same foresight, the Sinclair family pledged to the Madison Regional Health Foundation a gift of $50,000 to help support Madison Regional Health System and health care in the Madison area.

“The amazing, new hospital complex is a visual statement to everyone about the strength and vitality of the Madison community,” said Clark. “We appreciate the vision, dedication, and perseverance that the hospital employees, board of directors and donors have shown.” Clark and Connie made the decision as part of their generous gift to the Foundation, they would gift a piece of property. This gift of land was the very first land donation that Madison Regional Health Foundation had received that was not tied to the new facility’s development. The Ray and Marlys Schultz family donated part of the land where the current facility is now located.

“Madison Regional Health Foundation is honored to receive this gift from Clark, Connie and the Sinclair family,” said Erica Clements, Madison Regional Health Foundation director. “They have a long history in South Dakota, it means a lot when an established family business helps support health care in our community. We see them as partners in making Madison and the surrounding area a healthy and thriving rural town for many years to come.”

The Sinclairs gifted an acre of land located by Lake Madison, which offers beautiful views of the rural landscape and a pond just south of Linden Drive.
