Sleep Study Program achieves accreditation with ACHC

Sleep Study

Madison Regional Health System proudly announces its approval of accreditation status by Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for their sleep study program.

Achieving accreditation by ACHC is a process where healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

The sleep study program at Madison Regional Health System helps diagnose and treat sleep disorders in patients through sleep studies. These disorders can include insomnia, breathing disorders such as sleep apnea, sleep movement disorders such as restless leg syndrome and other conditions. Dr. Rizan Hajal, from Sioux Falls Sleep Center, works with MRHS to provide comprehensive sleep medicine services in Madison.

These sleep problems are not only a nuisance for those that have them, but have real health implications. According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, sleep apnea can put strain on your heart by causing oxygen levels to drop and your blood pressure to surge when sleeping. If left untreated, severe sleep apnea increases your risk of heart problems along with doubling your risk of dying from heart disease.
