Obstetrical Services

Madison Regional Health System's new Birthing Center provides one-to-one labor and delivery support in a peaceful, home-like environment.

"This was my first baby in Madison, and I was very impressed with the care I received here. The doctor who delivered me was calm, experienced and focused. I'm thankful that each of my nurses took time to help me out anytime, day or night." - Tammy G.

Our birthing suites made with you in mind

Our large birthing suites feature a state-of-the-art bed (complete with labor bar and it adjusts to multiple positions to provide the best position for mother), a whirlpool tub, and a variety of labor balls. All these tools help make your labor more comfortable and tailored to your preferences. Pain management including epidurals and nitrous oxide are available to help provide comfort during the difficult stages of labor as well as one-on-one coaching and breathing techniques.

We also want your family or support person to feel relaxed and comfortable during their time in our birthing suites. Amenities include a fold down couch, rocking chair, TV and snack/coffee station. Your support partner is welcome to complementary meals in our Sunflower Café during your stay.

There to support you and your growing family

Following your delivery, education is provided for you and your new family. You may choose "hands on" education and/or view videos on infant care and safety as well as breastfeeding techniques.

We are very proud to have 93.7% of our mothers choose to breastfeed. We support this effort and provide education and encouragement for those mothers.

Our nursery offers care for your newborn including IV fluids and antibiotics, weight monitoring and phototherapy for jaundice, if needed. You may choose to have your baby room-in with you or use our nursery. Our birthing center is a locked unit for your peace of mind. All of our infants wear a security monitoring bracelet.

After discharge, we provide a free follow-up visit at the hospital. It is a personal time for you and your infant with a nurse, to examine both of you and provide assistance with questions you may have since returning home.

Childbirth education classes, breastfeeding classes, baby care classes and tours of the beautiful childbirth unit are available. Please contact the hospital for more information.
