Physician Assistants

Our Physician Assistants work with physician supervision and have close working relationships with them. Our Physician Assistants conduct physical exams diagnose and treat illnesses, order and read test results, assist in surgery and write prescriptions. Mitch Poppens, PA-C and Delaina Sievers, PA-C also provide Emergency Room care at MRHS on a rotating basis.

Certification: Board Certified Physician Assistant

Background: Mitch has prior medical experience as a respiratory therapist. He has been practicing in Madison since 2002 and brings many years of experience with family practice and emergency room care to patients of all ages.

Delaina Sievers, P.A.-C

Delaina Sievers, P.A.-C

Medical School: University of South Dakota School of Medicine

Certifications: Board Certified Physician Assistant

Background: Delaina has a master's degree in emergency medicine from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. While her main focus is on emergency medicine, Delaina has also done 5 years of pediatric intensive care. She is also trained in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Delaina provides Emergency Room coverage and Urgent Care services at MRHS.

Angela Stevens

Angela Stevens, P.A.-C

Medical School: University of South Dakota School - Physician Assistant Studies

Certifications: Board Certified Physician Assistant

Background: Angela received my Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science from North Dakota State University and has 3 years of experience working as an X-Ray and CT technologist in the Black Hills of South Dakota prior to becoming a PA. She is thrilled to be a part of the Madison Regional Healthcare team and to be practicing Emergency and Urgent Care medicine in a small, rural community.

Emily Spanier, P.A.-C

Medical School: University of South Dakota School of Health Sciences

Certifications: Physician Assistant (PA-C)

Background: Prior to going back to school to become a PA, Emily worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in Fargo, Sioux Falls, and Madison. She worked in every unit of the hospital and also flew with the air transport teams. While she was trained in every unit, she had extra training in NICU and PICU.
