MRHS makes 66 critical access hospitals to know

Madison Regional Health System in Madison, S.D. made the 66 critical access hospitals to know list by Becker’s Healthcare. The organizations featured on this list have been recognized for their clinical quality and excellence in care delivery. They have become pillars in of their communities, providing access to healthcare for a broad population. MRHS was the only South Dakota hospital to be featured on this list out of the 38 critical access hospitals in the state.

For the second year in a row, the facility’s top-notch care and service are being recognized,” said Tamara Miller, Madison Regional Health System’s CEO. “This is not an award that we apply for; it is based on publicly available data and patient input. Our staff and community are to be commended for excellence and dedication.”

Becker’s Healthcare selected the hospitals based on awards and rankings from organizations including iVantage Health Analytics, The Chartis Group, the National Rural Health Association, CareChex, Healthgrades and Medicare star ratings. They also considered the hospital’s community impact and reputation for innovation. Organizations cannot pay for inclusion on this list.

MRHS is a critical access hospital which is categorized by having 25 or fewer beds, and the annual average length of stay is 96 or fewer hours for acute care. Critical access hospitals also offer 24/7 emergency care and are located in rural areas.
